Hello Austria,

The ball is really starting to roll very fast now. I am hoping to make my first trade in the next few days and there will be more details to follow. Thank you so much for all of you who have visited and keep coming back day after day; I really did not think that there would be this much interest so soon into the trading.

I will shortly be looking for my second trade so keep watching this space. I am off to watch my beloved football team win the FA cup now so you will have to excuse me, I expect you all to be cheering for Liverpool.

Also, please leave some comments, even if it is just who you are and why you are here, I will publish anything that is publishable, and once again, thank you.

Drum roll please,

I have had my first offer of a trade. I received the following comment last night:

The saying "Money for old rope" comes from the days when people would actually want the rope that a hangman had used. Gruesome. So as to maximise his proft the hangman would cut the rope into smaller lengths to sell it off. So, I am prepared to make the first exchange by offering a pair of scissors. This way if you get a few good offers you could have more than one bid going by cutting up the rope first. By the way the scissors will have to be a blunt craft pair so as to protect people who are not old enough to be using scissors. Not sure how easy they will cut through your old rope. Well, that's my offer, take it or leave it. A blunt pair of craft scissors for a piece of the old rope.

I like it, it is educational, interesting and relevent. I hope that the person that left this message will email me with their details so we can trade, you can do this via my profile on the right hand side. Hopefully I can then report back my first trade. Hooray.

Good morning,

I was hoping to have my posts online by 9am each morning but I'm already slipping down a very slippery slope. I promised I'd write a bit about my chosen charity so here it is:

The Grown Up Congenital Heart Patients' Association (GUCH) began in 1993 with funding from the British Heart Foundation and became a charity little over a year later. Its main aims are to provide a support network of patients via events, its website, providing advice etc. and to promote awareness about the existence and needs of grown ups with congenital heart disorders.

This is just a small snippet of what they actually do and if you want more information then please visit their website via the link on the right hand side.

More on my quest and I welcomed my first international visitors yesterday as you can see from the hitcounter. I hope that this will lead to many more visitors from around the world. My plan for today is to try and get as many heart charities involved in publicising this blog as possible. After all the final result will be for the common good.

Hello, well I have added a couple of things which you can see on the right-hand side. The first is a countdown timer, which will be used to countdown to when the trading ends and I hope to have something big to sell for charity. The second is the really neat hitcounter which displays unique hits as the country which they're from. I'm hoping if I can publicise this blog enough then it will show flags from all round the world.

So, what sort of trade am I looking for? If this wasn't for charity then I couldn't trade a piece of old rope for much, but, I'm hoping that people will be generous with their trades. I am looking for trades that are unusual and interesting, if you want to trade and have something you wish to swap for a piece of rope - it could be any useless junk you have around your house that may not be useless to someone else - then leave a comment and I will get back to you.

Have a good day.

It's day 2. I have quite a long to-do list for this blog, so bear with me. I hope by the end of today to have a picture of the rope that I am trading, I also hope to have more information about GUCH that I can distribute on this blog.

The reason I'm trading for this charity in particular is due to the fact that I was born with heart problems and have had to live with them for my whole life. I'm 23 years old and I consider myself to be very healthy; I'm not going to harp on about how terrible my life is because I have had my problems in the past and they have been sorted now, for the moment.

Hi, I'm wanting to raise money for a charity named GUCH. GUCH are the Grown Up Congenital Heart Patients' Association.

I was impressed by someone in America who tried to trade a paperclip for a house via lots of small trades. I want to try this for myself but it will be for charity instead.

I thought of all the things that I could start with and came up with a bit of old rope, I am hoping, over 18 months, to trade up to something big which I will auction for the charity. I am looking for anyone who would like to trade with me, but remember, I will only trade upwards and it has to be of reasonable size; i'm not looking for a JCB to auction!!!

This is just the first post and I'm sure you have lots of questions; well, you would have if anyone knew this blog existed. Over the next few days I will provide more info and try to publicise this blog.
